| Course Objective |
College English III – Journalistic English is designed to enhance students’ reading ability and comprehensibility in grasping news and information through the news media. Students will be presented with current international affairs cross-cultural issues and even timely talk-of-the-town and they are expected to improve their reading and listening skills as well as communicative skills in cooperative learning groups in class.

| Course Description |
Students will learn about the different sections in the newspaper and magazine expressions often used in news stories and the structure of journalistic writing. They will also be required to do extra reading and bring in materials for class discussion from Time Newsweek U.S. News & World Report The New York Times U.S.A. Today The China Post The Taiwan News Taipei Times etc.

| Requirement/Grading |
1. Students are expected to finish assigned readings BEFORE each class.
2. Students will be required to do extra reading for discussion purposes.
3. There will not be any make-up tests for midterm and final exams.
4. Late assignments/homework will NOT be accepted.
5. Regular attendance and participation in class activities such as group discussion sessions oral reports or briefings are mandatory.
